Shogun 2024 Review: The Best TV Show of the Year

<p>Shogun 2024 is a television event. FX reimagining of James Clavell novel — adapted by Rachel Kondo and Caillin Puente — is the most visually stunning and narratively satisfying prestige drama in years. It swept the Emmys for very good reason.</p><h2>What Makes It Special</h2><p>Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai are extraordinary. The show takes the bold decision to spend roughly half its runtime on Japanese-language dialogue with subtitles, creating authenticity and immersion no shortcut could replicate. The political maneuvering, honor codes, and landscape cinematography are all exceptional.</p><h2>The Verdict</h2><p>Shogun 2024 is a masterpiece. Watch it, then immediately watch it again.
